Bonfire Building, Bonding & Letting Go

Charity Loring will teach you the basics of how to build a bonfire as well as facilitate a fun relaxing “Getting to know you” game for participants to play around the Bonfire. We will go over the process of Letting go of things in our lives that are no longer useful to us and do a hands-on exercise of letting go.

 

Arts & Crafts

An unled activity held in the Chill Room. Come and go as you please and make as much or as little as you wish!

 

Nature Lover’s Hike - A Healthy Addiction

Wendy Pellerito will lead this Sunset Hiking & Beginner Photography workshop. The benefits of spending time in nature are tremendous.  It’s Wendy’s addiction and she would love to share her love for nature with you.  You’ll look for wildflowers, wildlife and wild edibles.  You will also take some time to listen to your surroundings with a brief time of meditation.  Optional: Bring your camera and Wendy will share a few photography tips on capturing beautiful moments in nature.

Suggestions: Hiking or tennis shoes or boots, camera and be prepared for inclement weather.

Emotional Growth & Making Changes for a Happier Life

Charity Loring, Licensed Mental Health Therapist will offer a talk and a hands-on workshop for those seeking Emotional Growth and Making Changes in their lives. Charity will be using multiple therapeutic techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Visual, Auditory and Kinesthetic techniques and much more! Laugh, cry, feel any emotions you need to or just be a silent observer. All are welcome in this workshop.

Visualize your Goals - Vision Boards

Mridu Pasrija, Meditation and Vision Board Instructor will help you to take the life goals you learned in Charity's workshop and turn them into a visual motivator. A vision board is a tool used to help clarify, concentrate and maintain focus on a specific life goal. Literally, a vision board is any sort of board on which you display images that represent whatever you want to be, do or have in your life. Although the workshop is for an hour, Mridu will help you get started and you can continue to work on your vision board throughout the weekend.

Forest Therapy

Cayla Samano will lead this Stress relieving Workshop. Hike will be at a slow pace and will cover approx. 1 mile.

Forest Therapy is a unique experience of the natural environment. Inspired by the Japanese technique of Shin-rin Yoku or Forest bathing, this accredited method seeks to develop all the senses and create a real relationship with nature. One of the many proven benefits of this techinque is a reduction in stress!

Art Therapy - Thoughtful Painting - Additional $10 to cover supplies

Lara Pomnitz, Social Worker and Art Instructor.

During this workshop you will learn the basic fundamentals of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), while crafting a beautiful and unique meditative piece of art. 

All skill levels are welcome to attend and no painting skills are necessary! All that is needed, is a desire to create while learning about the body and mind connection. 

During this workshop you will create a meditative painting, intended to capture your positive thoughts, energy and emotion. The painting you create can then be used for meditation centering/re-centering. 

This workshop is designed to explore our thoughts and their influences over our emotions and behaviors. You will learn how to identify and categorize different negative styles of thinking and how to challenge your negative thoughts and cognitive distortions to promote a healthier and balanced mind, body and soul.

What’s included in this workshop:

Each person will be supplied with an 11 x 14 canvas, paint, paint brush, easel, apron, paper plate, plastic cup and napkins.

What to wear: Anything you don’t mind getting paint on… we will get messy!

Toomka Dance!

Learn how to dance like a Bollywood star!

Suman Desaraju will lead this energetic and fun Dance workshop. 

 

Yin Yoga by the Lake

Rachel Kain, Licensed Yoga Instructor, will lead this interactive Yoga workshop.

Yin Yoga offers longer-held, passive and gentle floor poses that mainly work the lower part of the body—the hips, pelvis, inner thighs, lower spine. These areas are especially rich in connective tissues.

Vision Boards

Rachel Kain will lead this interactive workshop. This will be a gentle, flowing class for beginners and experienced Yogis alike in which you will learn to unite breath and movement. Learn to connect body and mind in this calming practice aimed at improving mindfulness and flexibility. Bring your own mat. A few loaners will be available. 

 

4:15 - 5:45 Workshops - Choose 1 of these 2 Workshops or take some free time for yourself.

 

Positive Self Image / Dance Therapy - You don’t have to be a dancer to take this Workshop!

Charity Loring, LMSW, Clinical Mental Health Therapist and Dance Instructor, will teach Cognitive Focus & Positive Self Image exercises in conjunction with the slow, flowing  beginner movements of Belly Dance.

 

Beginners Hooping + Moving Meditation with the Michigan Hoop Girls

Join the Michigan Hoop Girl’s, Brenda Fage and Grace Alexander for 90 minutes of fun with hula hoops.  We offer a new spin on a classic toy! Start off with learning all the basics with Grace and then move into a meditative hoop+yoga blend class with Brenda. This class does NOT require you to have a hoop or any previous experience to join us.  Comfortable footwear is suggested and loose fitting clothing should be avoided. 

 

5:45 - 7:00 pm - Free time at your leisure. Feel free to take a canoe out on the lake, explore Howell Nature Center, Chill out in our “Chill room” full of coloring supplies & Magazines, or do whatever else you like!

 

7:00 PM - Dinner

 

8:30 PM - 11 PM - Bonfire - Chill out around the fire after an eventful “Do it for You” day.  There may be possible performances by some of the instructors later in the evening around the fire.

Body in Motion

Adrianne Allen will lead this therapeutic body movement workshop.

Beginners & Experienced alike, come one, come all and feel your body deep within in this wonderful therapeutic dance class. In this class we will be focusing on our own personal natural movements, the importance of movement, breathing and just how to become more comfortable and relaxed with ourselves through dance and creative movement all while listening to beautiful music,and learning basic anatomy. 

 

Sun Salute Yoga

Rachel Kain will lead this lovely workshop.

Greet the Sun with this flowing practice. A slightly faster paced class that is still accessible for beginners. Learn to cultivate a warming breath that gives you strength and focus throughout your practice. Bring your mat if you have one. A few loaners will be available.

Zumba!

Sandy Anderson will lead this fun workshop which is open to beginners and experienced Zumba dancers alike.

Zumba is a Latin based dance fitness class. It uses a variety of international music and rhythms. You do not need to know how to dance. I make the routines easy to follow with the perfect combination of fun and fitness. It’s exercise in disguise. So come and take a trip around the world with me, laugh, smile and burn calories!
